Chakra Chimes (2012)

Yoga philosophy describes the chakras, a system of seven spinning energy centers located at various points along the spine. Each chakra is associated with a particular energetic vibration found in the universe, which translates into a particular color and seed sound (syllable). Studying the chakras led me into printmaking experiments focused on the colors associated with each chakra—for example, green is the heart chakra and red relates to the chakra at the base of the spine—a very different paradigm from the color wheel traditionally taught in Europe and America!
